NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) is a UK-based independent examination board which offer a comprehensive range of globally-recognised,  qualifications designed to meet the health, safety and environmental management needs of all places of work.  NEBOSH offers a range of qualifications from introductory to professional level. Around 180,000 people worldwide hold a NEBOSH qualification. The qualifications are recognised by the relevant professional membership bodies including the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).NEBOSH is an awarding body approved by Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) Accreditation, which has a UK-wide regulatory remit.

What is NEBOSH INTERNATIONAL GENERAL CERTIFICATE (IGC)?

The NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety is one of the globally recognized qualifications offered by NEBOSH. NEBOSH IGC is one of the most desired recognised qualifications in the field of Health, safety and Environment. It also ranks amongst the most reputable qualification for those working or desiring to work in the oil & gas, chemical, petrochemical, construction and many other sectors especially in gulf countries, Europe, UK and Asian countries.

NEBOSH qualifications are recognised by relevant professional membership bodies including the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH)], the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM) and the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).

The successful candidates can also apply to become a Technician Membership (Tech IOSH) of Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), Associate member (AMIIRSM) of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM).

This certification has become almost a mandated certification requirement in Middle East and other part of the world for HSE professionals. A NEBOSH General Certificate is widely accepted as meeting the knowledge requirement for HSE professionals due to its Structured Syllabus.

The International General Certificate syllabus consists of two units: focusing on Hazard Effect and management (Unit IGC1) and controlling workplace hazards (Unit GC2). Assessment is by two written examinations and a workplace-based practical assignment (Unit GC3).

NEBOSH does not deliver courses. It develops syllabuses for its qualifications and sets methods of assessment, such as examinations and practical coursework. Courses are delivered by NEBOSH Accredited Course Providers. Integrated Certifications and Trainings for Quality Health Safety & Security LLC, Abu Dhabi is an accredited course provider of NEBOSH for NEBOSH IGC qualification.

  • No separate syllabus. Practical Application should be done by the candidate at his own work place or work place known to them.
